Website redesign: when you need it and what it costs

When it's time to rebuild and when tweaks are enough. Redesign price and how not to lose Google rankings.

"Our site is outdated" isn't always a reason to tear it all down. Sometimes updating the first screen and speed is enough. Let's see when a redesign is truly needed.

When it's time to redesign

The site doesn't work on a phone, loads slowly, doesn't match the brand, has no SEO structure, and adding a page is hard. If 3+ of these apply, a rebuild beats patching.

Redesign price

A design refresh without structural change — $1,000–3,000. A full redesign with a new structure and code — $2,500–8,000. It's effectively new development, but with content ready — slightly cheaper.

The main thing — don't lose SEO

The most common redesign disaster: URLs changed without redirects — and all Google traffic is gone. Mandatory: 301 redirects from old addresses, preserved titles, an updated sitemap.
