iOS or Android: which platform to start your app with
Building both platforms at once is expensive. We explain how to choose which to start with, without losing half your audience.
Building an app separately for iOS and separately for Android is almost double the price. So at the start it's often smarter to begin with one platform. The only question is which. The answer depends not on taste but on your audience and budget.
Look at your audience
The ratio differs by country and segment. In Ukraine and Poland Android is often more widespread, but the paying, premium audience is more often on iOS. If you already have a website, check your analytics for which devices your clients use.
Cross-platform as a compromise
There's a third path — build one app for both platforms on shared code (cross-platform). It's cheaper than two separate builds and covers all users. For most business apps this is the optimal start.
